Austrian Dance Council Launches New Project for Dancers

The Austrian Dance Council has initiated a groundbreaking project that addresses a pressing question in the dance world: What should dancers do when they need to end their careers?

Unlike most other artists, dancers cannot continue their profession until retirement. The physical strain often forces many of them to stop prematurely, without a clear perspective for the future. This problem has remained largely unresolved, but the Austrian Dance Council has now decided to take action.

The ÖTR's new project tackles this challenge and seeks solutions to support dancers in transitioning into new phases of life. An exemplary approach will be initiated with former principal dancer of the Vienna State Opera, Roman Lazik.

Roman Lazik, who has experienced the highs and lows of the dance profession himself, will serve as a pioneer of this project. His experiences and insights will make a significant contribution to how dancers can be better prepared for life after the stage in the future.

Thus, the Austrian Dance Council is not only advocating for the present but also for the future of dance art and its practitioners.
